The dimmer is also capable of 3-way operation (where 2 switches can operate the light from 2 different locations). This dimmer is mounted in a box that takes up a lot of space in the wall switch utility box- It should fit in all standard d epth boxes but NOT slim depth boxes- specially with long power wires. I tested the dimmer with several name brands (GE,Samsung and Sanyo) of dimmable-rated LEDs with absolutely no problems. I have found that replacing just one of the LEDs with a Samsung dimmable LED cures the flickering problem (replacing just one of the LEDs with a 25 watt incandescent light also works but the dimming curve for that light does not match the LEDs),

These LEDs are very sensitive to dimmers- I suspect the problem is their very low current drain which confuses most dimmers and causes flickering. An excellent, flicker-free alternative: Philips BR30 Floodlight LED with warm glow dimming. Unfortunately, it did not work with my 6 led chandelier fixture and left the LEDs fickering on all but the full-on mode. Best overall: Cree 65W Replacement Floodlight LED bulb.

Read full reviewĬentury 150w LED and CFL/600w Incandescent Wall Light Dimmer Switch It is a silly thing to complain about but it looks very out of place with the shiny silver and you will find yourself looking for the whiteout or paint to cover it. The screws aren't normal switch plate screws - they are very short, so you are unlikely to be able to use your white screws off the existing wall plate. The biggest drawback (and the reason I'm docking it a star) is minor but irritating - it is a white switch and a white plate but it comes with silver (unpainted) screws and looks really odd (look carefully at the photo - its accurately represented but y ou don't notice it right away). This switch is also ready for use as a 3-way, which is a pretty nice feature for an inexpensive switch. The lowest setting is okay - I would prefer it to be dimmer but maybe the switch companies need a few years to catch up to the energy efficiency of modern LEDs. It has a really nice feature where you can adjust the lowest setting, so that if you have very efficient LED bulbs in the socket, you can bring the wattage down so that you get a decent level of dimming. This switch does what it is supposed to do and is definitely a good value.
